The Finnish based Counter-Strike:Global Offensive team that used to represent KOVA eSports has parted ways with the organization.
The news came on the twitter page of the team's General Manager, Timo 'renemesis' Tarvainen, he explained that the organization as a whole filed for bankruptcy.
On the twitter post, renemesis stated:
" I don't really know where to start here. This year was extremely difficult for KOVA, and as a result of many really unpleasant coincidences, the company was driven into financial distress in the fall of 2022, from which it ultimately did not survive. This is something that is extremely difficult for me to deal with.
Thank you to all the wonderful people with whom I have been able to share this KOVA journey over the years. There is such an insane list of great people to thank that I would probably spend the rest of the evening writing them, so maybe I'll just say: an extremely BIG THANK YOU to you colleagues, players, teams, competition partners, scene activists, tournament organizers, media representatives and everyone I forgot. I appreciate you. However, I don't want to think that this is the end of esports for me.
This kind of ending to KOVA's story does not in any way do justice to the incredible journey that was experienced over the course of a few years.
However, I will always be grateful that I was able to witness this journey.
At the time of the release, KOVA eSports was:
- Samu 'uli' Leirilaakso
- Jussi 'Airax' Airaksinen (C)
- Aleksi 'zks' Nissinen
- Otto 'ottoNd' Sihvo
- Joona 'Sm1llee' Holmstrom
- Petteri 'peku' Jaakkol (coach), their future now is uncertain.
